Occurrence
Large phenocrysts in alkali basalt, a member of the early to middle Miocene (17-15 Ma) Takakusa Volcanic Rocks in the early to middle Miocene (18-15 Ma) Oigawa Group. The Oigawa Group is the upper most part of the Setogawa Group of the Shimanto accretionary complex. The basalt has been subjected to Prehnite-Pumpellyite facies metamorphism. Ages of sedimentary rocks and basalt were determined by radiolarians.
