Hirase Mine
Hirase, Shirakawa city, Ohno county, Gifu pref., Japan
Occurrence
High-temperature hydrothermal deposit in the middle Paleocene (60 Ma) Hirase Pluton of the Shirakawa Granite. The deposit is composed of molybdenite-bearing quartz veins. The Shirakawa Granite is I-type (Magnetite-series), and the Hirase Pluton is the center pluton of the Paleocene Shokawa Caldera. Ages of granite was determined by K-Ar radiometric dating of muscovite and K-feldspar.
