Sanidinite facies

Chemical Process (Solid-phase growth) - Contact metamorphic facies series

Index Minerals

Sanidine, Tridymite

Required Geological Setting

Contact metamorphic rocks

Metamorphic rocks formed by contact metamorphism or in magma chamber in the following condition: higher than 800 degree and less than 0.2 GPa (shallower than 5 km depth). A metamorphic facies formed by heat of magma. Sanidinite facies metamorphic rocks are observed as contact metamorphic rocks associated with intrusions of plutonic rocks or accidental lithic fragments in pyroclastics.

Sanidinite facies

Distribution of metamorphic rocks subjected to Sanidinite facies contact metamorphism described in this site. Yellow lines are volcanic fronts.
