  • The flowering size of Tillandsia tricolor is more than 25 cm, whereas that of Tillandsia melanocrater is smaller and less than 25 cm.
  • Tillandsia tricolor distributes at altitudes of 750 m or higher, whereas Tillandsia melanocrater distributes at 50 m or lower.
  • The inflorescence is not branched.
  • Most of the plant sold as Tillandsia tricolor is Tillandsia melanocrater.
