• Deposition: Early Cretaceous, Valanginian - Hauterivian

• Sedimentary facies: Brackish
• Lithofacies: 3-4 sequences of the following combination; Coarse-medium siliceous sandstone, and interbedded sandstone and shale (Lower), Shale-dominant interbedded sandstone and shale, and shale (Upper)
• Sedimentary structures: Slump structures

• Thickness: 750 m or thicker
• Upper limit: Conformity (Hachiryuzan Formation)
• Lower limit: Conformity (Kurosaki Formation)
